DreaMT — ChadO’s Second Novel

Dreamt Novel coming soon

Pre Orders Now Open

Some dreams drift off the second your eyes open. Others stay lodged behind your ribs. They come back when you are half awake at three in the morning or when the coffee is not strong enough to chase them off.

DreaMT is that kind of dream. Maybe it is not a dream at all. Maybe it is the memory of what it felt like to almost lose the light and come back just a little bent.

Most people who know ChadO know the stand up, the sharp jokes, the dark fiction that pushes into uncomfortable corners. What most people do not know is that this book comes from a place that almost took him out for good.

A while back, Chad’s artery tore open at the celiac trunk. An arterial dissection, the doctors said. He should not have survived it. But he did. Laying there in that haze of meds and fear and half sleep, he drifted somewhere between the real world and that place you go when your body lets go for a while.

Some people wake up grateful and clean. Chad woke up carrying a half dream he could not shake. It came back every night in flickers and static. Doors where doors should not be. Old love reaching through the fog. A taste of something sweet and sour that felt more real than daylight.

That is Ricky Rafferty’s story in DreaMT. It is not a hero’s journey. It is not neat. It is a man drifting through his own soul trying to find a piece of love he is sure still exists if he can stay asleep long enough.

Psychedelic drugs open the cracks. Maybe they help. Maybe they just make the edges worse.

After RoomMate, What Then

If you read RoomMate back in November 2024, you know Chad’s fiction does not care about easy endings. That book crawled through family secrets and locked doors no one wanted to look behind. It was cold in places that needed to stay cold.

DreaMT is different but cut from the same cloth. It is not a horror story in the way RoomMate was. There is no monster behind the door — unless you count Ricky himself. Or maybe the monster is the door. Maybe it is what waits when you finally step through and see yourself exactly as you are.

If RoomMate was pain turned inside out, DreaMT is that same pain drifting through a fog of electric dreams.

A Story Birthed in the Quiet Hours

Most writers will say a book came from an idea they chased down with a pen and a plan. Chad did not plan this one. It came crawling through his veins while he lay in the hospital wondering if his heart would keep beating the next minute. It showed up again when the nights were too long and the pills made the walls melt a little.

He would type late night notes in his phone’s notepad. Things Ricky might say. A line about a hallway that bends when you are not looking. A taste of someone’s hair. A laugh he swore he heard even though no one else was in the room.

Ever been so deep inside a dream you woke up sure you were still there? Ever feel like your soul was trying to stitch something back together that your mind could not reach?

That is what this book holds.

Why Keep Going

Some people come out of a brush with death with a clean slate. New diet, new outlook, new lease on life. Chad came out with another story gnawing at his spine. Not clean. Not bright. Something unfinished.

DreaMT does not fix anything. It does not wrap things up in bows. It just asks you to stay inside the static a little longer and see what you find when the real world gets too sharp to touch.

How and When

Pre orders for DreaMT are open now. The first run comes signed by ChadO himself, each with a note just for you. Maybe it makes sense. Maybe it does not.

The books ship out mid July. You can wait for daylight or you can open it at midnight when the house is too quiet and the walls feel thin.

Want to see how it all started? Read RoomMate first if you have not yet. Feel that cold crawl through your ribs. Then come back here when you are ready for something softer but just as deep.

Questions Worth Asking

What dream have you never really woken up from?
What do you see behind your eyes when the room goes dark?
What would you trade to get back the thing you lost — the thing you maybe only dreamed you ever had?

DreaMT will not give you the answer. That is yours alone.
